Honeycomb Ported to the G1 [VIDEO]

I guess this is what Dan Morrill meant when he said that Honeycomb has no minimum hardware requirements: that screenshot on the right is from a T-Mobile G1 running Honeycomb. A devoted band of developers at XDA continue toiling away on the venerable handset that started it all, and after the Honeycomb SDK dropped, a couple of those intrepid souls managed to get it up and running on both of HTC's first Android phones , the Dream (G1)  and Magic (MyTouch 3G ). Before you dust yours off to give it a shot, know that it's not a fully functional ROM; more just proof of what can be done. Hit the break for a demo video.

VIA introduces Eden X2 low power dual core chips

VIA has introduced a dual core version of its low power Eden chip. The new VIA Eden X2 is a 40nm chip with two 64-bit cores, which the company says means they’re optimized for multitasking and multimedia performance. The company also claims that the VIA Eden X2 line of chips are “the world’s most power-efficient dual-core processors,” but doesn’t btoher providing any information about power consumption to back up that claim just yet. The Eden X2 is designed to play well with fanless systems and support Windows Embedded 7, Linux, and Windows CE. The chips are also pin-to-pin compatible with VIA Eden, C7, and Nano chips, which should make it easy for system builders to switch to the Eden X2 without changing motherboards or other components

Facebook’s New Comments Box Plugin Filters Website Comment Reels by Relevance

Facebook has released a major update to its embeddable Comments Box social plugin for third-party websites. The plugin processes social signals to surface the most relevant comments, and a new moderation dashboard allows admins to block profanity and other objectionable content. Users can login to the plugin with their Facebook or Yahoo! credentials, and comments are published to a user’s wall by default, driving traffic to the website. With these enhancements, Facebook’s Comments Box plugin is ready to compete with WordPress comments, Disqus, IntenseDebate, and other embeddable comment systems. By powering their comment reels with the authenticated identity of Facebook profiles instead of allowing anonymous comments, websites can increase the quality discussion, repel trolls, and not require Facebook users to register for a proprietary commenting account. Facebook has been tweaking this new version of the Comments Box plugin and testing it on the Facebook Blog and...

And almost nine out of every 10 social networkers will be Facebookers. Within two years or so, almost half of the overall U.S. population will have Facebook accounts, representing 62 percent of all web users in the country. Yes, the rate of growth in the U.S. will slow down around this time, as the market approaches saturation, but possibly foreign markets will pick up the slack. This data seems ...

His Facebook friend Joshua Hambly is accused of being the murderer. The motive for the murder remains unclear, although neighbors said a rivalry had begun because of a girl. “It was over a girl. He liked her and the other guy liked her and he got mad,” a teenage neighbor told local news station  WZZM 13 . The kid — who was described by their neighbors as shy and private — was arrested at his workplace less than a day after the murder was discovered. Lieutenant Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department told the television news: They knew each other for a little while. I want to do a little chec...
