Exclusive: Hands on with the HTC Thunderbolt 4G

We managed to get our hands on one of the new HTC Thunderbolt 4G’s today and took a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.  As well we also managed to run a Quadrant Benchmark and show the results (which are at the bottom of this post).  Our source who shared the device with us, informed us that the battery life does not seem too good, however it was hard to quantify given their short time with the device.  We can say that the device does feel very responsive and smooth.  Over the next few days more should be revealed as the official release is due at CES 2011. Update: We made a small typo on the actual Android OS version. We have now been informed that the Android OS version is, in fact, Android 2.2.1. Here’s the specs from as far as we could tell: ARM v7 processor, Single Core, 1 Ghz 8 GB internal memory, (32gb sd card included) 4.3 inch screen NO HDMI port 8 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front (We believe) Runs the new HTC Sense UI on top of Android 2.1.2 (Updat

Fanhattan is coming in early 2011

I could have sworn that we have reported on Fanhattan before, but this doesn’t appear to be the case. I got a chance to see them at CES 2011, and they intend big things for this year. In any event, this is a new service that will help users browse all the world’s movies and TV shows for “an elegant user experience”. It works on the TV in the living room, as well as from the mobile phone or on the web. The goal is to “combine movies and TV shows with an expansive world of related content, virtual assets, and information pulled from the web that bring entertainment to life”. It is set to come in early 2011, and I wonder if I could get a sneak peek at it. It reminds me of Moovida.

Lenovo L2363d 3D monitor plays & records 3D with dual-webcams

NVIDIA has outed Lenovo’s latest 3D capable display, the L2363d, running at Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and capable not only of playing back 3D but recording it thanks to dual webcams. The Lenovo L2363d supports 3D photos and 3D web-conferencing, as long as you have NVIDIA’s 3D Vision specs . There’s also the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 PC, a 3D-capable desktop using NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX460 GPU. Lenovo is, unsurprisingly, hoping you buy them both together. No word on full specifications as yet, since NVIDIA is only gloating about the 3D Vision tech, but we’re guessing it’s a similar – albeit updated – version to the K330 Lenovo outed back in December. Lady Gaga & Polaroid unveil Grey Label: bizarre LCD photospecs & instant printer/camera

Polaroid‘s involvement with Lady Gaga still seems a little offbeat, but the unusually-costumed “Creative Director” has just unveiled a range of instant photography devices at CES 2011. Polaroid Grey Label consists of two sensible products – the GL10 Instant Mobile Printer and the GL30 Instant Digital Camera – and then a crazy one, the Lady Gaga GL20 Camera Glasses. Video demo after the cut The GL10 printer and GL30 camera each use ZINK instant camera paper and can either print the shots from another digicam or, in the case of the GL30, take the shots itself and then produce hard copies. The GL30 also has various filters for adding retro and other affects. The GL10 will go on sale in May 2011, priced at $149.99, while the GL30 will arrive later in 2011, price tba. As for the GL20 Camera Glasses, they’re a set of oversized sunglasses with an integrated digital camera in the bridge and a pair of LCD displays behind the lenses. That means you can snap a shot and then displa

SanDisk the enabler: 100MBps 128GB CompactFlash cards

That’s right. SanDisk has created what they’re calling the “world’s fastest high-capacity CompactFlash card.” Which means it may not be the fastest or the highest in capacity alone, but it’s the best combination of the two so far. With a 100MB per second writing speed, you won’t have to wait long to fill up the 128GB of storage with full-HD video or burst sequences from your 21MP DSLR. But it’s not all magic and sunshine. The read speeds are lower, though they won’t say by exactly how much. The “lifetime limited warranty” drops to only 30 years if you live in Germany, and they warn the statistics are based only on their internal testing. There is one other more very high number that’s worth noting. The price. Just one of these babies will set you back $1500. Amazon’s Disruptive Android App Store Now Open To Developers — Full Details

Fragmentation. Curation. Recommendations. Take your pick: Android is getting all three, compliments of a new Amazon-run application marketplace due to launch later this year.  Today, Amazon has launched the developer-facing part of the store, inviting devs to submit their applications so that they’re ready when the app store is ready for its consumer debut later this year (Amazon isn’t giving a firm date on the full launch). The developer portal is at http://developer.amazon.com. We reported on this impending news back in September, so it isn’t a huge surprise. But it’s going to bring some very interesting dynamics to the way Android applications are purchased and distributed. In some senses, this is the Android equivalent of Apple’s App Store — even more so than Google’s official Android Market. I spoke with Aaron Rubenson, category leader for Amazon Mobile Services, and Ameesh Paleja, general manager for the Engineering Division of Mobile Services, about th
